Proof Amazon uses Ai in Accommodations process (Is provided below) which contradicts their public statements. The PDF
Provided by the Amazon Disability Union know by a few different names: Disabled at Amazon Union, Disabled Employees United, Amazon Disability Union, Disabled Amazon Employees Union, PWD Amazon Union. What this shows it that up to 255k Disability Requests are made yearly, and Amazon's statements to the Guardian that "The process was not automated or semi-automated, Amazon said, and it denied that AI had been used for case processing or decision-making in the accommodation process." and to the Bloomberg that "The process is empathetic, and the interactions aren’t automated." is false. Amazon has actually lied to the public.
1. Amazon is using AI to mass deny accommodations
2. Amazon is using AI to remove the interactive process
3. Amazon policies violate the ADA and they are using AI to implement their discriminatory policies across the board
4. We have tested out the application the HR teams use when handling accommodations and found that the correct accommodations are denied 95% of the time.
Every lawyer we've spoken to has agreed that this process, has removed the interactive process. This AI component is another way they use discriminatory policies on a mass scale.
So Far CNBC and other outlets have actually caused this document and our story as a whole to be withheld or refused to share our entire story. This story and our groups progress, our petitions, our work and the retaliation experienced by Amazon has all been covered up by multiple outlets who gave us false promises or pulled the story days before it was supposed to go out. CNBC for example gave Amazon a heads up to this story now 8 weeks ago in what we believe was an attempt to help and assist them. CNBC also told us not to share with other outlets. CNBC also stated various lies or to keep us thinking they were going to publish the story in what appeared to many to be a intentional delay of the story getting out till present day. (We provided the Ai doc to CNBC around 13weeks ago and they have just been sitting on it) At the same time these lies were told to us, CNBC timed pro Amazon articles that appeared to be product pitches showing a clear pro Amazon Bias.
Business Insider said and I paraphrase "This story is not important enough for our millions of readers to care about" This same reporter who covers Amazon said "I think there are too many negative stories about Amazon and People pick on Amazon." (Saying that people pick on Amazon is an ironic statement when Amazon has bullied those with disabilities and intentionally not followed the ADA) and when speaking to a current disabled employee at Amazon said "Oh so why do you want to burn the place down?" (This was said while a survivor of this disability discrimination and retaliation was sharing real issues of discrimination they have faced) instead of taking our stories seriously, they would cut off people speaking with these retaliatory comments. Right after making this retaliatory comment, the reporter then asked "If there is anyone at Amazon willing to share other scoops (And qualified it by mentioning other different subject matter unrelated to disability issues and disability Rights), let me know" CNN scheduled a group meeting with us and we had 22 People ready to participate, many who postponed or scheduled their doctor appointments at a different time to be available to talk to the journalist and the journalist cancelled the day before, said they would reschedule the following weeks(They knew we had many Disabled Amazonians who scheduled their medical appointments at different times so they could be available at the time CNN scheduled. It was so important that people scheduled their medical appointments around this meeting just to finally get their voice heard). CNN never replied or rescheduled after cancelling. All this is due to what we believe is assisting Amazon to suppress stories of disability discrimination and retaliation at Amazon and disability rights stories. The reason for sharing this is to explain how when we as disabled employees try to share our stories, there is like a mountain to climb, hurdles, a long long way to go in getting our stories heard and our rights protected. It feels hopeless sometimes when a company like Amazon with 100's of Billions of Dollars can virtually do whatever they want, and violate our rights. We have no voice when this happens. When we do speak up, Amazon silences us. When we share our stories with the media or try to, it seems that even there, there is a challenge in getting people to care about our stories. Where can we go to speak out? How can we hold those accountable when were bullied, treated as less than dirt? We're speaking up because that's our only hope, hoping that ears will hear our pain, our struggle. What has been done before hasn't work. The last decades have not resolved the plight and stigma that those with disabilities still face in society. Status quo has not fixed disability mistreatment in the workplace. Our stories are all but forgotten most of the time or an afterthought. We get ignored because, some think of us as less than. But that's where some are wrong, we can do so much, we have skills and abilities, but to be where we should be, we need to be acknowledged, heard, valued and understood. Ignoring the issues faced by those with disabilities does not do anything but allow it to continue. It needs to be discussed, called out, shared. Only then can things start to improve.
This document has never been shared before. We are sharing it for the first time here to bring awareness of their violations.
And its worth noting that their use of the term sympathy is also a lie. Not one Disabled Amazonian we've spoken has agree that, its sympathetic. the term people have described it as is "abusive" and "Bullying"
